If you have been diagnosed with chronic illness

Chronic diseases such as diabetes or ocular chronic diseases such as glaucoma may cause blindness. Blindness may occur due to failure to follow the doctor's orders, such as regular follow-ups and regularly taking prescribed medications.

Be sure to follow up regularly and take your medications.

The follow-up with the eye doctor (ophthalmologist) for diabetic patients without ocular involvement is every 6 months. If there is involvement of the eye, a follow-up of at least every 3-4 months is required.

Remember! If you need injections of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and/or laser treatment, it will not be useful without control of glucose, hypertension, and blood lipids (cholesterol).

For well-controlled glaucoma patients, the follow-up is usually every 3-4 months. If the glaucoma is poorly controlled, follow-up may be more often. If you are taking care of yourself, you will be safe.
