Sudden loss of vision in one eye

Sudden visual loss (within seconds to minutes) in one eye calls for immediate attention. If vision is not restored within minutes, do not wait. Immediate treatment is required at the nearest medical facility. Do not wait until your vision is restored. Get immediately to the nearest hospital.

Several diseases may cause loss of vision in one eye. One of them is central retinal artery occlusion, which should be treated within the first few hours. If not treated on time, visual loss may be permanent and may result in blindness.

The treatment of this disease is controversial, and much depends on the policy of the medical center.

We at the department of ophthalmology at the Western Galilee - Nahariya Medical Center adopted a regimen that results in a high rate of success in improving vision, but further developments are warranted.
