When to be seen by your physician

Under the age of 40 years, it is recommended to see the following specialists at least once every 5 years even if you do not have a new medical problem:

 

Internist (children under 16 years - pediatrician)

Ophthalmologist (doctor for eye diseases)

Dermatologist (doctor for skin diseases)

Women should see a gynecologist as well.

 

Over the age of 40, it is recommended to see the following specialists at least once every 6 months:

 

Internist (periodical tests for blood pressure, CBC, fasting glucose, serum lipids, occult blood in stool, colonoscopy)

Gynecologist (for women: gynecologic exam)

General surgeon (for women: breast exam)

Ophthalmologist (doctor for eye diseases)

 

Over the age of 40, it is recommended to see the following specialists at least once every year:

 

Dermatologist (doctor for skin diseases)

Urologist (for men)

 

At any age:

 

Dentist - every 6 months

It is important that every woman over the age of 30 would do a breast self-examination every month and any abnormality (lump or secretions) be reported to her physician immediately.
